Sharon Oviatt, Ph.D., is President & Chair of the Board of Directors. She is internationally known for her work in human-centered interface design and evaluation, educational interfaces, mobile interfaces, and pen, speech, and multimodal interfaces. She has been a lifelong educator and prolific scientist, with over 130 scientific publications in a wide range of venues. In 2000, she received a National Science Foundation Creativity Award for pioneering research on interfaces.

Dr. Robert Calfee, Board Member, is an internationally known educator and cognitive psychologist. His experience in educational research and administration spans over three decades as Professor of Education and Psychology at both Stanford and U.C.-Riverside, as well as Dean of Education at U.C.-Riverside. Among other topics, his work has focused on assessment, the effects of schooling on the intellectual potential of individuals and groups, the impact of literacy on problem solving and communication, and understanding and facilitating school change.

Korrie Beemer, Board Member, was honored in 2006 as Washington State Secondary Science Teacher of the Year. She is an experienced science teacher at Bainbridge High School, with a Zoology degree from University of Washington and Masters in Teaching from Seattle University. Since she began teaching AP Biology at Bainbridge High School seven years ago, her inspirational teaching style has generated an increase in enrollments from 19 to 137 students.  

Carla Orcutt, Treasurer, has over 35 years of accounting experience managing budgets, accounts payable/receiveable, payroll, and overall accounting systems for various northwest corporations, including Nordstroms and Bon Marche. She owns and operates her own accounting business on Bainbridge Island.
