During March, the Australian Research Council sponsored a Distinguished Lecture series by Dr. Oviatt on educational interface design as part of the HCSNet: Network of Human Communication Science & Technology program. Dr. Oviatt gave seminars at National ICT Australia in Sydney, University of Melbourne, University of Queensland, and the Cognitive Load Theory Conference.
Our recent research has uncovered interface design features that substantially increase ideational fluency during students’ science problem solving activities. These findings have important implications for new directions in educational interface design. Read about recent research findings and current research activities.
Our newest partnerships include Nokia/Palo Alto Research Lab and Northwest Indian College in Bellingham, WA. We are beginning project work with these partners to design and evaluate interfaces for mobile environmental science and bilingual/multicultural education.
